My children and myself are coughing again! Could it be something that we ate? Wife is fine. Maybe it has been cold every night now. Yup, cold weather caused us to cough.

Will be going for church camp today till Sunday. I just hope I can stand the air-cond room for 3 days. Praying hard that God will heal us from the cough completely.

Once a general manager wanted to test his people who had come from all over India, about their values of life.

He announced that in their seminar folder, there is PVC pouch and in it there is a seed. When they return , they must put it in a good soil in a pot and look after it very well.

He would hold a competition in the next year’s seminar and that the best plants would be awarded suitably.

Everyone did what was told to him. A year passed quickly. And next year in a big hall, there were hundreds of pots and a great variety of plants-a great scene.

Except one pot in which the soil was there and no plant! The owner was standing quietly and seemingly ashamed of himself!

The general manager called him on the stage. He asked him what happened and he told him the truth. He planted the seed which he was given – and did that was to be done- but nothing happened!

The general manager declared him the winner!

Everyone was shocked. It was announced, “Gentlemen! The seeds I gave you were boiled seeds. You planted them and nothing happened! You acted smartly and used some other seeds.

This man was honest to his work and, therefore he did not cheat me or himself!”

My friend’s wife just got her ovary removed due to cyst and last Sunday as I was reading the local newspaper, I came across an article that talks about the risk of removing the ovary before menopause. Studies in US has shown that those who removed their ovary due to cancer and cyst will be at higher risk of getting the Parkinson disease and memory problem.

From ScienceDaily:

Mayo Clinic researchers have found that surgical removal of both ovaries doubles a woman’s risk of developing Parkinson’s disease and parkinsonism many years later in life. They also discovered that the younger a woman is at the time of the surgery, the higher her risk.

Once a woman does not have any ovary, the women sex hormone called the estrogen is reduced. Estrogen in defending the brain from attack as a woman ages.

The detail is in the link provided above. :)

Try looking at your house and see what are the things that you could consider as a feature of a energy friendly home. Hopefully there are many things that will fall into that category. Well, if not you will need to do some Home improvements to your house. Let me introduce one features that you can do for your home that is the Double glazing windows.

What is double glazing? It is the glazing process in which a window is formed by two panes of glass with a space between the panes. The space between the glass is usually several millimeters thick.

What makes double glazing energy friendly? Well, in a double glazing window, the air is trapped between the panes of glass and forms a layer of insulation. Around 60% of heat loss in the home occurs through standard, single pane windows. Double glazing substantially stops heat loss. The cost of the double glazing will pay for itself very quickly in the money you save from heating bills. Once the double glazing has been installed, your heating costs should decrease by around 10 to 12%. As well as saving on heating bills, double glazing is very good at cutting down on noise pollution and internal condensation.

Well, all of us do gossip at one time, some more than others. But few of us realized how devastating the damage could be and how difficult it is to undo the damage done. Here is a story that hopefully will remind us not to be gossipers.

A woman repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor. Within a few days the whole community knew the story.

The person it concerned was deeply hurt and offended.

Later the woman responsible for spreading the rumor learned that it was completely untrue.

She was very sorry and went to a wise old sage to find out what she could do to repair the damage.

“Go to the marketplace,” he said, “and purchase a chicken, and have it killed. Then on your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one along the road.”

Although surprised by this advice, the woman did what she was told.

The next day the wise man said, “Now go and collect all those feathers you dropped yesterday and bring them back to me.”

The woman followed the same road, but to her dismay, the wind had blown the feathers all away. After searching for hours, she returned with only three in her hand.

“You see,” said the old sage, “it’s easy to drop them, but it’s impossible to get them back.

So it is with gossip. It doesn’t take much to spread a rumor, but once you do, you can never completely undo the wrong.”

The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.”

* A group of graduates, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old
university professor.

* Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

* Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some
expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

* When all the students had a cup of coffee, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the simple and cheap ones.

* While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

* Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee.

* In most cases, it is ! just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

* What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… Then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

* Now consider this:
- Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups.
- They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.
- Sometimes, by concentrating on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us. Enjoy your coffee!.”

* The happiest people don’t have the best of everything.

* They just make the best of everything.”

1. Live simply.
2. Love generously.
3. Care deeply.
4. Speak kindly.
