Diamonds and girls

This post is written from a guy’s perspective. Are diamonds a girl’s best friend? I love to see beautiful things but I do admit that I am not an expert in jewellery. I have seen many ladies who loves to wear gold jewellery. There are some who prefer to wear silver jewellery. Yes, my wife do wear jewellery at times. However, most of her jewellery are her wedding jewellery. I do not think that she has a diamond jewellery.
Diamond heart
Okay, back to the issue of whether diamonds are a girl’s best friend. I think whoever agrees to the statement that diamonds are a girl’s best friend is out of his or her mind. I do not know why a girl wants to have a diamond as her best friend. Yes, I really don’t know how a diamond can be a friend. Would a diamond be able to talk, listen, share, or comfort you? I don’t think so. If that is the case, why would anyone make a diamond her best friend? I simply couldn’t understand it. And if ever that it is true diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then I pity the thousands of girls in this world. They are without best friends.

If someone tells me that diamonds are best gifts to a girl, I might agree with him. If you want to win a girl’s heart with beautiful diamond jewellery, by all means do so. Just be careful. If the girl only wants you because you can afford to buy her a diamond, then it is not worth to give to that girl. Give a diamond to the girl that truly deserves it. My wife deserves to receive a diamond. I am blessed to have a wonderful wife like her. She is truly worth more than a thousand diamonds in this world.

donot worry

Many of us prefers to worry. Worrying does not do anything good to you or the situation. Instead you may cause your health to deteriorate by worrying. Things that are not within your control are not worth to worry about. Things that are within your control, choose to change it. For Christians, take delight in God’s promises and trust in God’s providence.

One of the difficult problems faced by teenagers is acne. Why? Acne by itself is not a big problem. It would go away. However, a teenager who is very concern about appearance and wants to look good would consider acne the threat of life itself. It is like a major health sickness to the teenager’s impression. Having gone through those acne filled years during my teenage years, I find that it is something that needs to be handled carefully. I can bring low self esteem and if this feeling is not handled properly, the consequence may be dire.
acne
It is good to be informed about acne. Those who have acne can search more information about it from acne.com. There are a whole lot of information that you can find there. Leaving your legacy
icon1 admin | icon2 Reviews | icon4 11 16th, 2007| icon3No Comments »

What would people remember about you when you are no longer on this earth? What kind of legacy that you would pass down to your children or descendants. No, a legacy does not need to be a big achievement like building the pyramids or the Taj Mahal. It could be something small but very significant to your children or to those who knows you. A good habit or discipline that you instilled in your children could be considered a legacy. It is something that you are doing that others would want to follow or imitate.

There is one website that helps you to ponder on this and provide the avenue for you to keep your last wishes too. This is something new and you should check out MyFootprints.com. I signed up and I have done the timeline of my life from birth till now. Come to think of it, I did tried doing my life timeline a few years back but I’ve lost the file. Now, it is there in the website. I can leave my last video in the website if I want to. So, do sign up and leave your words of legacy there.

How do I get a healthy body? Well, one of the reasons is definitely eating homecook food. I was blessed with a SAHM (Stay At Home Mother) who cooks everyday for her family. It was her food that gives me the nutritions and energy I needed to grow healthy. Yes, there are times when the food may not be as tasty as I wished it could be but hey, it is healthier compared to the fast food out there. There would definitely be one vegetable and one main dish. And we have to eat lots of rice, the main contributor of carbohydrates which is the primary source of our energy.

My mother’s recipes are quite simple. I guess it is limited by our family financial means. Since we can’t afford expensive stuffs, the food we have are never the ones we always see in the high class restaurants. The ingredients can be found in our compound or garden. Yes, we planted most of our vegetables and plants. Our Family Recipies would include various ingredients like bamboo shoots, tapioca leaves, baby ferns, cucumbers, brinjals, chilli, and many others that we can grow in our garden.

Now, things has changed. The younger generation does not know how to cook. They prefer the readymade food that they can easily buy and eat. No more the hassle of preparing the ingredients and cooking the food themselves. I sincerely believes that the rising of cancer cases and other sickness is due to the change from homemade food to readymade food. So if you can prepare a homemade food, please do so. Of course you should try cook the food in a healthy way. At least you know the stuffs that you will be eating is still nutritious and good for you.

Most people do not realize that we are spirit being living in a physical body. To some this statement may sounds scary as their only perception of spirit is the evil spirits shown in horror movies. We are made in the image of God so this should be a consolation of how good our spirit image could be. It is with our spirit that God who is also a Spirit being communicates. Yes, there are times when people hear audible voice from God but this is quite rare. Spirit communes with the spirit.

One of the good thing that God has created in our spirit being is the conscience. If we did something wrong, our conscience will tell us and we would have the guilty feeling. This is a good “mechanism” created by a Holy God who wants His created beings to be holy too. We are left with only two choices. First is to repent of our wrongdoing and be free from our guilt. Or we can deny, ignore and cover that guilt feelings and still be in bondage or carrying that burden throughout our lives.

The best thing to do is to repent and be free from that “secret” burden. Why carry unnecessary burden throughout your life. You will be wearied and grow tired and would not be able to do other things. Go to Jesus for He says, “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy burdened” and “My yoke is easy and my burden is light”. Choose today which one you want, a heavy burden of having guilt feeling in your heart or freedom from guilt in Christ Jesus.

Do you know that loans is very hazardous to health? For instance, if you have so many personal loans or secured loans to pay, I am sure you will need to work extra hard to earn money to pay for your loans. A very simple example is my wife.

She wanted to settle our loans ASAP and she blog till the wee hours of the day. Sometimes she sleeps for only 4 hours a day. She felt sick a few times due to it.

In order to prevent her from stressing herself up, I am currently actively blogging for money to ease her burden which I did not place upon her. :)

Many of us dream about having flat tummy. Ok, maybe we don’t dream about it but I’m sure most of us want to have a flat tummy instead of the protruding big tummy. Being a sportsman I know that it is not easy to have flat tummy. I tried many ways and methods but surprisingly most of the methods are not effective. Upon searching the net about flat tummy, I came across this article by By Jill Ross, HealthAtoZ contributing writer. It is worth the reading.

absIf you dream of tightening your tummy but dread doing endless sets of sit-ups, then California researchers have good news for you. The classic sit-up, they say, is not the best answer for stronger, flatter abdominals.

A study led by Peter Francis, Ph.D., at the biomechanics lab at San Diego State University put different abdominal exercises to the test and found that not all are created equal.

The traditional sit-up - or crunch - fell close to the bottom in a ranking of the ab exercises.

“The sit-up is ineffective,” Francis says. Typically, he says, people do sit-ups by lying with their back on the floor, with their legs straight or knees bent. Then, they sit all the way up, relying on their hips and less on their abdominals. Not only is a sit-up ineffective but it can strain the back, Francis adds.

Perhaps another surprise finding was that despite the advertising hype, some abdominal exercise equipment tested, including the Torso Track and Ab Roller, either were no more effective or only marginally more effective than a regular crunch you can do at no cost.

“You don’t have to spend $150 on a piece of exercise equipment to strengthen your abs,” Francis says.

Tummy-tightening comparison

The San Diego study, sponsored by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), compared 13 of the most common abdominal exercises, some involving equipment, and ranked them from most to least effective. The study included 30 healthy men and women, ages 20 to 45, who were either occasional or daily exercisers. Each was put through a battery of exercises, including the traditional crunch, modified crunches, partial body-weight exercises and exercises using both home and gym exercise equipment. Muscle activity was monitored during each exercise using electromyography equipment.

Each of the 13 exercises was ranked for muscle stimulation in the rectus abdominus (the long, flat muscle extending the length of the front of the abdomen) and the obliques (the long, flat muscles extending along the sides of the abdomen at an angle).

The top three abdominal exercises were:

Bicycle maneuver. To do this exercise, you lie flat on the floor with your lower back pressed to the ground. Put your hands beside your head. Bring your knees up to about a 45-degree angle and slowly go through a bicycle pedal motion. Touch your left elbow to your right knee, then your right elbow to your left knee. Breathe evenly throughout the exercise.

Captain’s chair. This was one of the few on the “most effective” list that involves gym equipment. To do the exercise, stabilize your upper body by gripping the handholds and lightly pressing your lower back against the back pad of the chair-like equipment. The starting position begins with you holding your body up and legs dangling below. Now slowly lift your knees in toward your chest. The motion should be controlled and deliberate as you bring your knees up and return them back to the starting position.

If you do not have access to a captain’s chair, Francis says you can improvise by hanging from a bar, although that may be difficult for many people who aren’t in shape.

Crunch on exercise ball. A high-quality exercise ball, which costs about $30 depending on the size, is needed to do this exercise. Sit on the ball with your feet flat on the floor. Let the ball roll back slowly. Now lie back on the ball until your thighs and torso are parallel with the floor. Cross your arms over your chest and slightly tuck your chin in toward your chest. Contract your abdominals raising your torso to no more than 45 degrees. For better balance, spread your feet wider apart. To work the oblique muscles, make the exercise less stable by moving your feet closer together. Exhale as you contract; inhale as you return to the starting position.

If you do a crunch, researchers found you are better off doing a vertical crunch (which ranked number four on the list of most effective ab exercises for the rectus abdominus) or a reverse crunch (which ranked number three for strengthening the obliques).

“These crunches don’t put as much stress on your back,” Francis says, as a traditional sit-up type crunch.

To do a vertical crunch: Lie flat on the floor with your lower back pressed to the ground. Put your hands behind your head for support. Extend your legs straight up in the air, crossed at the ankles with a slight bend in the knee. Contract your abdominal muscles by lifting your torso toward your knees. Make sure to keep your chin off your chest with each contraction. Exhale as you contract upward; inhale as you return to the starting position.

To do a reverse crunch: Lie flat on the floor with your lower back pressed to the ground. Put your hands beside your head or extend them out flat to your sides - whatever feels most comfortable. Crossing your feet at the ankles, lift your feet off the ground to the point where your knees create a 90-degree angle. Once in this position, press your lower back on the floor as you contract your abdominal muscles. Your hips will slightly rotate and your legs will reach toward the ceiling with each contraction. Exhale as you contract; inhale as you return to the starting position.

Abs need regular workout

Unlike strength training, Francis says abdominal exercises should be done frequently rather than for intense periods. “Abdominal strength isn’t the same as working on big muscles with large resistance,” he says. Instead, what’s needed is “endurance training for the abdominals.”

Five minutes a day of abdominal exercises can make a difference if you do it regularly.

If one exercise feels uncomfortable or is too difficult, then Francis says try others. The captain’s chair exercise, for example, might be too stressful for someone who has low back pain or is out of shape.

However, strengthening the abs can actually help maintain good posture and alleviate lower back pain, Francis says. As with any fitness program, though, check with your doctor first before starting abdominal exercises.

While the best ab exercises can help you reach a goal of a flatter, tighter tummy, Francis cautions, too, that they are only part of the equation. Diet is another part.

While the best ab exercises can help you reach a goal of a tighter tummy, it will not necessarily make the stomach “flatter”. For a healthy-looking mid section, a combination of ab work, proper diet, and regular aerobic exercise is the most effective strategy.

“You can have the tightest abs on earth, but if you have 10 pounds of lard covering them up, you won’t see that,” Francis says.

Doing research

I have never been a research assistant and I think I know why. It is for the simple reason that I do not like to study. Sometimes I am amazed at those who loves to study and do research. Their mind is like a dry sponge, always wanting to absorb knowledge and information. And it seems that they are always thirsty for more and more knowledge.

I have finished my degree and has not plans yet to study for Masters. I think if ever I were to do my Masters, I would have to engage the service of MasterPapers.com to help me out with my Research Papers. Their services include guidance on formal research and writing, plus know-how on Internet research and citing of electronic material that I can download. No, it is not because I am lazy but I know I really need help on this area. It is better to humble myself and succeed rather than be proud and failed my research paper.
